Sportsmanship, Stewardship, Leadership Through Horsemanship:
Canterbury Pony Club is a non-profit youth organization that teaches riding, mounted sports, and the care of horses and ponies. It develops responsibility, good moral judgment, leadership, and self-confidence. How does membership in Canterbury Pony Club do this? Through Mounted and Un-Mounted education to build a "well-rounded" horse person capable of riding safely and expertly on the flat, over fences, and in the open. Pony Club Members are knowledgeable about the care of horses and ponies. Under the auspices of the USPC, Canterbury Pony Club is committed to the well-being of the horse and the safety of the well-rounded rider. Pony Club Members are found in the professional world and at the Olympics.

Pony Club is educational!
We teach horse care and horsemanship to young people ages 5 through 25. Members advance through a certification system as they demonstrate proficiency as an equestrian and in horse management. There are opportunities to improve your riding ability and knowledge with mounted lessons and unmounted meetings. During unmounted meetings (no horse needed) members learn about feeding, shoeing, veterinary care, and other areas of horse management. Under adult supervision, the more experienced Pony Club members instruct and assist younger members.

Pony Club is fun!
Pony Club is about having fun, making friends, becoming a leader, setting goals, and learning self-confidence and responsibility. Pony Club members get together for fun member events, certification opportunities and rallies with other Pony Clubs. Pony Club believes that fair and friendly competition develops teamwork skills and sportsmanship.

Pony Club is variety!
Pony Club members can choose to pursue any number of disciplines, including dressage, eventing, show jumping, mounted games, tetrathlon, quiz, western, vaulting, foxhunting, and polocrosse. While most of our members have their own horses, it isn't necessary to have one to join. Members should have access to one when required.

Pony Club is for everyone!
